Requests for Information (RFI's) are critical elements of every project.
Commercial RFI's are typically used to collect written information about the capabilities of various suppliers, in a format that can be used for comparative purposes.
Technical RFI's are used between project participants to obtain clarification of design, specifications, requirements, etc.. The consolidated details of RFI's on a project, such as the total number of RFI's, when they were originated, when they were answered and the types of issues addressed frequntly become the subject of discussion during schedule recovery reviews, impact assessments and even claims. Consequently, effective management of the RFI process contributes to well managed projects.
infinitrac's RFI module comes standard with many attractive features, and like all of the infinitrac modules, can be customized quickly and economically. Standard Features include:
- access from anyplace that infinitrac is available - over the web or your own intra-net
- control access and security - ensure that the right team members are seeing what they need
- multiple folders - customize document prefix and numbering for each folder, or use a common scheme for the entire project
- rich set of fields, including originator, respondent, dates and threaded comments.
- associate the RFI with specific Impacts or Issues so that the effect can be considered
- ability to associate resources with the RFI - including cost, labor, materials or equipment
